That had BETTER BE A SOFTWARE PROBLEM

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity

Hanlon’s Razor

So I’m using my notebook, talking to Kyle, and I drop my PDA into my docking station… and the damned thing shuts down.

If there’s anything physically wrong with either the PDA or the notebook, someone’s gonna get hurt. If not, this may indicate a corrupted system issue, which might precipitate me into upgrading from Psyche to Phoebe… I just have to figure out how important Wine is to me.

A strange weekend

“You don’t have to look and you don’t have to see ‘cuz you can feel it in your olfactory”

-Loudon Wainwright III

Not a good weekend by a long shot. To recap:

I think that’s about it. We’re done for bad news for the next six weeks now, right?

Freaky Japanese Monster Wrestling

“Benjamin is nobody’s friend”

-Garth Algar

Anyone who was watching Jimmy Kimmel Live last night will have seen these guys. They’re maybe even more entertaining than NRW.

Windows: Making computers easy to abuse

A big shout-down to Windows XP, for deciding to re-search my documents partition – 13 gig of crap (much of it Windows-readable archives) – when I change the sort order of the results window.

It’s been going for 4 minutes so far, and the 7 results aren’t in chronological order yet.

Read that again. I’ll wait.

My Dad

I don’t say this nearly often enough, but my dad is great and I’m damned lucky that he’s my dad.

Currently, he’s immensely swamped with work, but I asked for his help in finding out who to apply to at his company to work there again this summer. He made time for me, figured out who to ask, and asked them. So by sometime tomorrow, my resume will be in to the proper person at his company, where I think I stand a decent chance of being hired.

Spoony, Forky et al

“He must have died while carving it”

-Brother Maynard

I’m starting to think about the site for Spoony. What do people thing of www.spoony-adventures.com ? It doesn’t exist yet…

We’d need a host, though – I think I can get one for a couple bucks / month. Or, we could make a donation to DynDNS and host it at my house, or we could just use http://spoony.kicks-ass.net/ like I’ve already reserved.

Sourceforge down, and I must download

“I’m actually interested in online banking”

-Kevin Mitnick

I’m trying to download the latest development version of Galeon to escape the stupidity of Mozilla’s insistence on sending mailto’s to Mozilla Mail (I use Evo)… and Sourceforge is down. For “maintenance”.

They’ve been down for hours. I can’t take much more of this. I need to check the bug reports on PHPiCalendar, I need to get Galeon, etc….

Incidentally, who do these Mozilla programmers think they are? This mofo’ is too damn big. A Web Browser browses the Web – it is not supposed to be some freaky kind of cross-platform operating environment. That’s what Java and .NET are for. A Web Browser should render HTML. That’s about it.

And it should at least let me decide not to use it’s damned email client – I have my own, theng ya berry mush.

Barrylicious

“Money? No, my degrees won’t earn me much money. They will only increase my enlightenment of the vast and beautiful forces that rule the universe we live in. Oh, well.”

-Michelle Ashburner

Slashdot just posted Dave Barry’s answers to questions readers asked. I like his solution to the Spam problem, myself.

Now to continue with the search for a summer job. Anyone who knows anyone who’s hiring – I’m looking, and I’m not a moron.

New BOFH

Holy schnitzel! A new BOFH came out and I had no idea!

What in the name of Woz…

“lol… I’ve been quoted on the intarwebnet”

-Laura Watson

Uh…

This is all I have to say.

It’s almost as amusing as this
